The big difference in Showell 10 you will notice right away is its beautifully redesigned user interface. From the side and top menu to managing shares and creating presentations, we have improved almost every aspect of the app.

But not only the user interface changed; now you can personalize even more user settings, find your content quicker, view recommendations, and add links to the Digital Sales Room.

In addition, we have added a wide range of administrative features to the Showell App for Web. This means there is no longer a need to switch between two different platforms. You can now manage, find, present, share, and analyze all in one place.

Terminology changes you should be aware of

With an update of this magnitude, we addressed some terminology to make Showell more streamlined and understandable.

  • Showell Account → Showell Workspace. This is to avoid a common confusion between your Showell 'Account' or User accounts.
  • In the side menu: My Shares → Shares
  • In the side menu: My Presentations → Presentations
  • In the side menu: Preferences → My Settings
  • Selected → Collected. In the top menu bar and throughout the Showell Workspace, we have made a small but important change. Instead of selecting files, we now refer to it as collecting files. This subtle adjustment enhances overall clarity and makes it easier for users to understand the process.
  • View → (Top-level) Folder. Previously, the top-level folders in the app were referred to as 'Views'. However, this term caused confusion as it conflicted with the use of the word 'view' in other parts of the app. Furthermore, there are no longer any discernible distinctions between top level folders and regular folders, except for the ability to set a background instead of a thumbnail image.
  • In the top menu: Tools  → '3 dots'. The word 'Tools' has been removed, and replaced by a '3 dots' icon ( ... ).

 



New features and changes

Here you will find a detailed list of all the enhancements and additions, available to try out with Beta today, and that are coming to all Showell Apps in the near future (Web, Windows, iOS and Android).


Fully renewed User Interface

  • The side menu and top menu have been redesigned to offer a fresh and modern appearance, making navigation clean and intuitive.
  • Introducing the 'Home'-tab: This helps to quickly return to the main page
  • You can now navigate through all the files in your Workspace even faster by using the 'Files' option in the side menu or the breadcrumbs provided in the top menu.
  • The top menu bar is now conveniently fixed to the top of the screen, so you can easily access all of its functions without any hassle. This ensures that you have immediate access to all the features right at your fingertips.
  • 'Tools' has now been changed to the '3 dots' icon, as this is a common and understandable icon among a multitude of applications.
  • In grid view, the thumbnails have been redesigned and we've made some space for longer file names. Additionally if you're using a mouse, hovering on top of the title will display the full title for longer file names.

'My Settings' tab: User Settings, Preferences & Links

Profile

  • You can now find a multitude of additional options under 'My Settings' from the side menu
  • Change your name, email, title, country and company
  • Add social links or company website - These links will be displayed in the Digital Sales Room
  • Option to change your Home Workspace
  • Storage: You can now easily remove any files that you have uploaded to My Files in order to free up storage space
  • Trash: Accidentally deleted a file from your My Files? You can now restore them from your personal trash folder - or then permanently delete!
  • From the Showell native apps (Windows, iOS android), you can remove downloaded contents from your device.

Content Viewing, Finding & Collecting

Search

  • AI Recommendations: When opening the 'Search' window, you will be provided with a list of recommended files
  • Search has been updated with a 'recently viewed' list
  • Search filter options received a face lift.
  • (Native Apps only): Option to remove downloaded files. This will help regain space on your device.
  • The 'Home' tab in the side menu will quickly bring you back to the main page
  • Breadcrumb navigation: From the top menu bar, you can click the 'path' (your current location in the App), this will help you navigate quicker to any place in Showell.
  • Page navigation in documents: Page numbers and the clickable option to navigate between pages have been relocated to the bottom right corner of the document. In addition, you can now access the Table of Contents from this location, which has also been updated with a thumbnail overview for easier navigation.
  • Draw: The drawing feature can be accessed from the bottom right corner of the screen or by clicking on the page number in a document with multiple pages. We have also given it a fresh, modern look to enhance the user experience.
  • In addition to the 'Draw' feature, we have introduced the 'Pointer' feature. With the 'Pointer', you can easily make annotations while presenting and they will automatically fade away. This is a fantastic tool for temporarily highlighting important information.
  • You can now Collect files, by clicking the '+' icon on the file's thumbnail.
  • (Version 10.1) Added an overview list of new and updated materials - When your Workspace Administrators upload or update materials, you'll now be able to find an overview of this.
    Click 'Files' in the side menu, and choose the 'New'-tab.
  • (Version 10.2) When you haven't made any searches yet, the Shares search tab will display a list of recent shares.

  • Brand new user interface, providing a clean overview with loads of data

  • Create Smart Folders: This new features allows you to save a search filter 'preset'

Sharing & Share Analytics

Shares

  • 'Shares' area has now been provided with a brand new look, and provides a ton of convenient information in a glance
  • Search, Filter or sort your shares directly from the 'Shares' area
  • New user interface for Share Analytics
  • For individual share analytics, you can now search in a specific time frame
  • You can now add multiple Showell created 'Presentations' into a single share
  • When sharing 1 file, the subject is automatically filled in with the file's name
  • You can now de-activate a Share
  • Easily select the files and folders you want to share directly from the File Browser window. This window allows for quick navigation and added convenience, with a top menu that provides quick access to all Files, your My Files, Recently viewed items, and Collected contents. You can even search for specific files or folders directly from within the file-browser.
    • (Version 10.4) We've added 'Presentations' to the top menu in the File Browser
  • Brand your Digital Sales Room: When activated on your Workspace, you are able to add and choose between multiple branding options for your Digital Sales Room.

Presenting (Presentation Creator)

Presentation

  • The Presentation creator has been overhauled with a brand new user interface
  • Sort your presentations directly from the 'Presentations' area
  • When creating a presentation, you can conveniently select files directly from the File Browser window. This window allows for quick navigation and added convenience, with a top menu that provides quick access to all Files, your My Files, Recently viewed items, and Collected contents. Additionally, you can even search for specific files or folders and open multi-page documents to select individual pages.
  • Clicking the 3 dots on a slide in the presentation creator, allows you to quickly move slides in the right location.
  • Using a keyboard, you can quickly select multiple slides by using Shift+select. This is useful to remove multiple slides at once.
  • From the top menu, you have now the option for see a 'preview' of the presentation you are creating.
  • You can now add multiple Showell created 'Presentations' into a single share
  • Shared presentations can be downloaded from the Digital Sales Room right away as a PDF, without the need to convert them first.

Notifications

  • With the updated Notifications area user interface, you now have the ability to instantly view a range of details and a small preview of any attachments that may be included.
  • You can now sort your notifications

Security, Services and other improvements

  • For extra security, we offer a button to sign out from all devices at once. You can find this under My Settings > Security & Privacy
  • In-platform malware detection: in the background, all files undergo a thorough malware check. If any issues are detected, the files are promptly rejected.
  • When the Showell native Apps (Windows, iOS or Android) updates in the background, this will now be displayed as a 'toast'.
  • We exterminated a plethora of pesky bugs

 



New features and changes for Administrators 

In addition to the features and changes mentioned above, We've brought over a multitude of administrative features from our Showell Admin platform to the Showell App for Web. Here you can find a comprehensive list of these exciting new additions:


Admin mode & Workspace Settings

Admin

  • The 'Admin' tab from the side menu offers a wide range of new functions that allow you to have more control and manage various aspects of the Showell App.
  • Adjust general Workspace settings, such as your Organization (Workspace) name and country
  • Add a Custom Terms of Service link (URL) - This can then be added to user invitations
  • Set a Share expiration date default for the whole Workspace
  • Change your Brand/Workspace color and logo
  • Add additional brands: When activated on your Workspace, you are able to add multiple brands to your Workspace, that can then be utilized in your users Digital Sales Rooms.

Content Management ('Edit'-mode)

Content Management

  • As an Admin, you can swap between 'Edit' and 'View' mode to quickly make adjustments or then present to customers.
  • Search, Filter or sort your files directly from the content management area
  • Create Smart Folders: This new features allows you to save a search filter 'preset' 
  • You can now change your files and folders thumbnails
  • You can now change your top-level folders wallpaper/background
  • Tag your documents with keywords
  • Provide your files with language tags
  • Apply 'keep on device' setting
  • The 'Keep on Device' option is now available for individual files
  • Set a file to be 'Shareable' or not
  • Set a file to be shareable in its original file format
  • Drag and drop files/folders in the right order
  • Set Group privileges for Folders
  • Beside folders, you can now set group privileges for files
  • Hide files/folders
  • Hidden files and folders now have a semi-transparent appearance, making it easier to identify them
  • Improved background and thumbnail gallery; where you can now navigate in the whole Workspace contents structure
  • New uploaded files and folders are no longer auto-capitalized
  • Under the 'Admin' tab from the side menu, you can now find 'Storage'. This shows you a listing of all your workspace contents sorted by size. This is convenient if you'd like to reduce the Workspace's amount of data
  • Under the 'Admin' tab from the side menu, you can now also find 'Trash'. Any content removed from your Workspace, will be stored in your trash folder up to 60 days.
  • (Version 10.7) Set an expire date for your files
  • (Version 10.7) You now have the capability to edit multiple files in bulk simultaneously

Admin: Users, Groups & Invitations

User Management

  • Find all your users and groups directly in the Showell App for Web
  • Invite new users to your Workspace
  • Search, Filter or sort your users
  • Change or edit user basic info and details
  • Add users to groups
  • Multi-select users to be added to groups simultaneously 
  • Create Groups
  • View your remaining licenses in a glance
  • In a user invitation, you can now select groups from a drop-down menu
  • You can now have user invitation message templates by using the 'Use Previous Message' button. This will showcase all previously written invitation messages.
  • An additional security benefit has been added, that as an Admin, you can logout individual users from all their devices (reset login)
  • (Version 10.2) Added the "Country" and "Company" fields to User Export - When exporting your user list, it will now also provide the Country and Company information.
  • (Version 10.3) You can now easily access the user's My Files

Is Showell 10 available on all platforms?

Showell 10 will be gradually rolled out across all platforms, so you can expect to access it soon. To stay updated on the latest release information, be sure to check the 'Update Status' section. It's important to note that the Admin features will only be available through the Showell App for Web.

Is the Admin platform updated with Showell 10?

The Showell Admin platform will not see any changes with this update. However, it will undergo the above mentioned terminology changes, such as 'Showell Account' → 'Showell Workspace'.

Keep in mind that most of the Admin features will now also be available from the Showell App for Web.
