Course structure

With Showell LMS, you can easily create multiple courses to engage and train your users. For a general introduction to this feature, please refer to our LMS Introduction article.

Key Course Features

Each course includes:

  • Sequential Lessons and Quizzes: Structured content so users complete lessons or quizzes in a set order. Participants unlock each step by completing the previous one.
  • User Privileges: Set permissions to control who can access each course.
  • Descriptions and Thumbnails: Add details and image to represent each course.
  • Publish and Unpublish: Control course availability with a simple toggle.
  • Participation Monitoring: Track user progress and course engagement.

Create Courses

To create a new course, go to the side menu and select 'Courses', followed by going to 'Edit Mode', or alternatively, navigate to 'Admin' in the side menu and choose 'Course Management'

Then, Click '+ Add Course' in the top right corner and provide a name to your new course > OK

With opening the course you'll find the following:

  1. Course name: Adjust this at anytime you'd like
  2. Preferences-tab: Set your course preferences and privileges
    1. Description: In a few sentences, explain the course's overall goal and the skills and knowledge users will obtain. Highlight the benefits - what will they achieve by taking this course? This captivating description will be the first impression, so make it informative and engaging
    2. Category: Select one or more categories for your course, or create new ones. Categories help organize courses on the main page, making it easier for users to find relevant content. For more information on managing categories, click here
    3. Access: Determine the access level for this course. Will it be available to all users in the Workspace, specific groups, or just a select few individuals?
    4. Thumbnail: Set a thumbnail image to represent the course
    5. Save: Make sure to Save your changes
  3. Content-tab: From here you can add lessons and quizzes to your course

  4. Participants-tab: After publishing your course, users in your workspace will be able to access and engage with it. This tab also allows you to monitor their progress throughout the course. For more information: Monitor Course Participation
  5. Publish button: Once your course is completed with its lessons and quizzes, you can publish it for users to access, and you can also unpublish it at any time if needed

 



Manage courses

You can manage your courses at any time. Whether you need to update an existing course or create a duplicate, the process is straightforward. You have the flexibility to modify all aspects of the course, including descriptions, access, quizzes, and lessons.

For significant changes:

It's advisable to first unpublish the course. After making your adjustments, you can republish it for user access. 

For general guidance on managing or editing a course:

Follow the same procedures that apply when creating a course.

To duplicate, unpublish or remove a course:

Open the course, click the three dots in the top right corner, and select either "Duplicate", "Unpublish" or "Remove."
