Create or edit Microsoft 365 files from within Showell.

Microsoft 365 Office Editor: Features

The M365 Office Editor allows you to create and edit Office files directly in your Workspace, or from your My Files, providing a seamless and efficient workflow.

These files are synced with your Microsoft 365 account, ensuring that you can access them both from Showell and your M365 account with ease.

Features:

  • Create Office files directly from your My Files. (All Users, All Showell Apps)
  • Create Office files from any location in your Workspace. (Admins, Web App)
  • Copy and edit Office files, that have been uploaded by yourself to your My Files, or by your Administrators to your Workspace. These edited files will be stored in your My Files. (All Users, Web App. coming soon to all Showell Apps)
  • Synced with your Microsoft 365 account. This ensures access from both Showell and your M365 account.

Requirements:

  • Active M365 Office license or subscription

 



Authorize the connection Between Microsoft 365 and Showell

When using the Microsoft 365 File Editor for the first time, it will ask you to login and authorize the connection between Microsoft 365 and Showell. This only has to be done once.


1. In the Showell App, use any of the available Microsoft File Editor options to enable the authorization

2. Login with your Microsoft 365 account/Workspace and Allow that Showell can access.

  • Showell will never view, edit or remove files that you have stored on your Microsoft 365 account that are not used in Showell.
  • When you edit or create Office Files in Showell, this will automatically sync and store to your personal Microsoft 365 account.
  • Office Files removed from Showell will not be removed from your Microsoft 365 account.

3. You're all set up > Click Continue to start editing/creating

💡 Note: When authorizing the connection, you may require 'Microsoft 365 admin approval'. This step is necessary only once and must be completed by an Admin of your Microsoft 365 Company account. Once approved, neither you nor other users will need to repeat this process again.

 



Create Office Files

Within your Workspace or My Files, you have the capability to seamlessly create and edit Office files to initiate or revise projects directly within Showell.

Office 365 Editor


1. In the Showell App for Web, navigate to your My Files

  • Or as an Admin, navigate to the desired location in your Workspace

2. Click the '+ Add' button in the top right, and choose to add an Office File:

  • New PowerPoint
  • New Word document
  • New Excel spreadsheet

3. Give the new file a name and click Continue

4. The Office File will now open as a new window

  • You have now created a copy of the opened file in your own Microsoft 365 account
  • You can make all the edits you'd like
  • Changes are instantly and automatically saved to your Microsoft 365 account

5. Ready? Close the window and Navigate back to Showell

6. Within Showell, You'll be informed that the new file is being saved into your My Files.

 



Edit Office Files

Any Office file in Showell, can also be edited.

M365 edit options

1. In the Showell App, find the Office File you wish to edit

2. Open the drop-down menu by clicking the 3 dots next to the document name

3. Select on of the following options:

  • Edit as new: This option will make a copy of the file, and save it to your My Files. Any edits or changes you make will be stored within this copy. This ensures you do not make changes to the original file.
  • Edit in: This will simply open the file and you are free to make changes. This will make direct changes to the file itself.
    • For users, this functionality is only available in My Files
    • For Admins, To edit files stored in the Workspace, navigate to Edit Mode (File Management) and click on the three dots next to the desired file.

4. Ready? Close the window and Navigate back to Showell

5. Within Showell, You'll be informed that the new file is being saved.

 



Sync Office Files

All Office files that you create and edit in Showell are automatically synchronized with your Microsoft 365 account. If you have made any changes to an Office file directly in your Microsoft 365 account, you can easily sync those changes back to Showell.

1. In the Showell App for Web, find the Office File you wish to sync

2. Open the drop-down menu by clicking the 3 dots next to the document name

3. Select 'Sync from'

You might be utilizing the older version of MS Office Desktop Editor. This article focuses on our renewed Microsoft 365 Office Editor with enhanced features and integration with your Microsoft 365 account.

Rest assured, we will continue to support the old Office Editor until you, your company, and Workspace have fully transitioned to the new version.
