Getting Started

If you're currently using one of the following integrations, we already have a ready-to-use option available for you:

However, if you're using a different DAM or Cloud service, don't worry! Let's work together to set up the integration. Keep reading to find out how.

What you have to do:

1. To initiate the integration process, reach out to your designated Showell Contact person or contact Showell Support. This will enable clear communication for establishing the necessary agreements, and allows us to assist you throughout every step of the integration.

2. Create an OAuth 2.0 application in your DAM or Cloud service. OAuth 2.0 is the industry-standard protocol for authorization and is available in most services.

3. Optional: Choose whether you would like to synchronize keywords, categories, product types or even languages. These fields in your DAM are typically custom fields that you need to define:

  • If you haven't done so before yet, create the custom field(s) within your DAM and provide them with a name of choice. Please note that you can only have one field per subject. By default, letters are converted from MixedCase to lowercase. However, if you prefer, this can be modified upon request.

4. Provide your Showell Contact person with the following:

  • The OAuth 2.0 credentials: ID and secret
  • The Names of your custom fields, if you have chosen to add these

5. Setup users in your DAM/Showell

  • It is recommended to create separate users in your DAM and in Showell for the integration, as these will act as a bridge to connect your DAM with Showell. While a personal User Account can be used on both ends, having unique users specifically for the integration makes it easier to disable the integration by simply removing the integration user. This also helps prevent any accidental movement of personal files to Showell.
  • These users will then be used for managing the Showell integration.
  • DAM side: Add read privileges to the this newly created user. This ensures that this user isn't able to modify the content and will only act as a bridge between your DAM and Showell.
  • Showell side: Assign this user the Admin role to enable them to set up and manage the integration effectively.

What we do:

Once we have received your request to add your DAM or Cloud integration, along with the necessary OAuth 2.0 credentials, our team will take the necessary steps to create a connector between Showell and your DAM.

After the connector is successfully set up, you will be able to authorize the connection between Showell and your DAM using your credentials. This will allow you to start syncing your content with Showell seamlessly.

💡 FAQ

What are the basic requirements for connecting my DAM?

To connect your DAM, you will need a Showell Professional or Enterprise Subscription. Additionally, you must have read access to the source system through the API.

How do I activate the DAM integration on my Showell Workspace?

If you are interested in learning more about the integration between Showell and your DAM, you can find additional information:

Is my content automatically synchronized?

By default, your DAM integration in Showell automatically syncs every hour. However, if you have a large amount of content that needs to be synced, it is recommended to adjust the sync interval. If you would like to change this to for example daily or weekly, please reach out to Showell Support for assistance.

Can I connect my DAM to multiple Showell Workspaces?

If you want to connect the same DAM to different Showell Workspaces, we recommend creating separate users on your DAM side for each Workspace. For example, you can have showellsync-workspaceA@companyx.com and showellsync-workspaceB@companyx.com in your DAM. On the Showell side, you can establish the connection using just one Showell User Account.

Can I have multiple DAM/Cloud integrations on one Showell Workspace?

Yes, you can sync contents from multiple integrations at the same time.

Is there a file size limitation?

A single file cannot exceed 6GB. However, this limit is rarely reached unless you are dealing with multi-file zip archives or lengthy 4k uncompressed movies. So, there is no need to worry about exceeding the size limit for most standard files.

What if I cannot use OAuth 2.0?

If you are unable to use OAuth 2.0 for your DAM integration, please don't hesitate to reach out to us. We are here to help and will provide you with alternative options and solutions.

🔔 Troubleshooting

I am unable to sync content, or syncing fails

If you encounter any issues with syncing content or if the syncing fails, please make sure that the DAM user has read privileges for all the necessary materials. If the problem persists, it could be because the authorization has been revoked from your DAM side. This can happen, for example, due to a password lifetime policy. In such cases, you will need to re-authorize the connection. For further assistance and instructions, please contact Showell Support.
